How We Load Your Container
Professional movers pack PODS and Pack Rat containers using proven techniques that maximize space, prevent shifting, and protect your belongings throughout the entire journey.
Our movers build solid "walls" of heavy furniture and boxes from the floor all the way to the ceiling of the container. This technique minimizes shifting during transport and maximizes every cubic foot of space.
Dressers, file cabinets, appliances, and heavy boxes always go on the bottom. This keeps the center of gravity low, prevents crushing lighter items, and keeps the container stable during long-distance transport.
Every piece of furniture is wrapped in moving blankets and secured with stretch wrap before it goes into the container. This protects against scratches, dents, and damage during the entire journey.
Soft items — linens, pillows, clothing, and cushions — are used to fill gaps between furniture and boxes. This maximizes density, prevents items from shifting, and acts as natural padding throughout the load.
Boxes are stacked vertically in tight columns from floor to ceiling. Heavier boxes on the bottom, lighter boxes on top — every column is built to be stable and secure for the road.
Large furniture that doesn't fit efficiently gets disassembled — bed frames, tables, shelving units — to maximize the usable space inside your PODS, Pack Rat, or ABF container.

Wrap Everything First
Before anything goes into the container, our movers wrap all furniture with moving blankets and secure them with stretch wrap. Dressers, sofas, mattresses, tables — everything gets protected before it moves an inch.
Build the First Wall — Heavy Items on the Bottom
We start at the back of the container and build the first "wall" from floor to ceiling using the heaviest items — appliances, dressers, file cabinets, and heavy boxes. Heavy items always go on the bottom to keep the load stable.
Fill Every Gap with Soft Items
Gaps between furniture and boxes are filled with soft items — linens, pillows, clothing, and cushions. This prevents shifting during transport and acts as natural padding to protect everything around it.
Stack Boxes Vertically — Heaviest on Bottom
Boxes are stacked in tight vertical columns from floor to ceiling. Heavy boxes on the bottom, lighter boxes on top. Each column is built to be stable and won't topple during the drive.
Repeat Wall by Wall to the Door
We continue building wall after wall from the back of the container to the front — each wall tight, dense, and secure. The last items loaded are the first items you'll need at your new location.
